Meet Cheryl's Assistants

Lori Johnson

Married for eleven years to husband, Bobby, Lori is a CPO adoptive mom to 4-year old Elle.

Her work experience with CPO began in 2004 as a mentor and phone volunteer and has since progressed to Assistant Director.

Lori is a former OSU Extension Educator in the fields of Youth and Human Environmental Sciences.
Kelly Jacobson

Kelly Jacobson has been married to Steven for 17 years and has seven children ranging in age from 1-16 years old. Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, Kelly was an assistant buyer for JC Penney Corp. in Dallas, TX.

Kelly began volunteering for CPO to support a pro-life ministry, but discovered a call from God to minister to women in crisis on a deeper level in 1997, when she and Steven adopted the first of their four youngest children.
"I believe God is using CPO to change the lives of women and children every single day. Sometimes I am in awe just to see what He will do next!"
Kris Panter

Kris has been married for 17 years, and she and her husband have 4 bio children, ranging in age from 5 to 12 years. Before they had their girls, Kris worked as a credit counselor for a credit bureau in Arkansas. She has also been a La Leche League Leader for 8 years. She and her husband have recently adopted a three-year-old little boy and a newborn baby boy! Kris says,
"I volunteer at CPO because it gives me great joy to help mothers when they feel like there are no options for them. God has equipped me with the love and strength to help these women get back on their feet, no matter what the situation. I believe that it is important for them to know that God loves them and will provide for them."
Stephanie Johnson

Stephanie and Bryan have been married for nine years. They have two boys, Tyler (4) and Brody (2), and a baby girl in Heaven. Prior to having children, Stephanie worked as a Registered Nurse at Hillcrest Hospital. Since having children, she has been blessed to be able to stay at home. She has been involved with CPO for five years and began serving as an Assistant in the last six months.
"The Lord led us to CPO in the beginning, as an adoptive family. Because of our experience in adopting our oldest son, I felt the Lord was leading me to become more involved so that I could help other adoptive families and birth moms. I love seeing how the Lord works through everyone involved in the adoption process. I am constantly reminded of what an awesome God we serve through the ministry of CPO."
Jeanette Hudgeons

Jeanette lives in Owasso, Oklahoma, with her husband and seven children. She has been married to her best friend, Dean, for 20 years. God has blessed them with seven beautiful children through the miracle of adoption. (You can only imagine the laundry!)
"Unable to have biological children, Dean and I were first led to CPO as prospective adoptive parents. We were so impressed with CPO's focus on ministering to women in crisis pregnancies and the focus CPO places on an open relationship between the adoptive parents and the birth families. We feel truly blessed to know our children's birth moms and their families and feel it has been very positive for our children, as well.

"I enjoy volunteering for CPO because I see the hand of God at work through this ministry. In my 10 years of association with CPO I have witnessed how God continues to intervene in peoples' lives and draws them closer to Him. I see God using the joys and pains that I have experienced in my life to minister to and encourage others. One of the opportunities I especially enjoy is speaking with adoptive parents who are starting on the exciting journey of adoption. Please don't hesitate to call me or e-mail me if you have questions."
Lisa Barricks
"I have served as an Assistant Director at CPO for 4 years. My husband and I have adopted two daughters through CPO. I have volunteered in many different capacities for almost 11 years. I am, currently, teaching Kindergarten."
Becky Martin

Becky married Phillip in 1990 and is the mother of Zach and Sarah, and recently-adopted Eli. She is a former kindergarten and first grade teacher, and is presently a co-owner of Performance Stage, Inc.
"I have been a part of CPO since 2004, when my niece, Zoe, was adopted. I was looking for a home mission to be involved in, and saw the blessing that CPO was to all of the women and couples who came for help. I just knew this is where I wanted to volunteer.

I was a single parent for 4 1/2 years, so I had real-life experience with the feelings that the women face in a crisis pregnancy. I first became a mentor. In 2007, Cheryl called to ask if I would be willing to be an assistant, and I was thrilled. There are many ups and downs in this ministry, but I know I'm doing God's will for my life and that He works everything out for the good for those who love Him."
Paige Tooman

Paige has been married to her husband, Brent, for 13 years. They are proud parents of two boys, Hank and Bear.

Paige began at CPO as an adoptive mom and a volunteer. She became active in fundraising for CPO and is now an assistant director.

Paige is a former first grade teacher and has a passion for children.
"CPO amazes me every day! I love watching families come together and love sharing the miracle of Christ with so many. I am honored to be a part of this incredible ministry."
Lisa Bellmard

Lisa has been married to her husband, Larry, for 13 years and has been a Dental Assistant for 26 years. At the age of 17, Lisa gave birth to her oldest son Clint (26), who is married and has 3 children. After being married for a few years, Larry and Lisa discovered that they were unable to conceive, but God had a bigger plan. Larry and Lisa were blessed to have the opportunity to adopt Liam (3½), and Lisa feels even more blessed to have the opportunity to be a stay-at-home mom.
"I always prayed that God would give me the chance to help young women who find themselves in the same situation I was in, pregnant and scared. As usual, God doesn't disappoint. I have the honor of being with some of the young women through their labor and delivery as one of CPO's Doulas (birthing coach). I truly feel that God has placed me with CPO so that I can share my story, and help give support to these amazing young women."
Michelle Makela

Michelle has been married to Matt for 18 years and lives in Sapulpa. They have three adopted children and are fostering with the expectation of adopting their fourth. She was a travel agent before becoming a stay at home mom.
"We came to CPO as an adoptive family, but I soon realized that I wanted to be a part of this unique ministry. It is amazing to watch God supply needs and families for the ladies who seek out CPO. This ministry is the body of Christ living, breathing, and moving with Christ as the head. What an amazing God we serve."
