Meet Cheryl's Assistants

Lori Johnson

Married for eleven years to husband, Bobby, Lori is a CPO adoptive mom to 4-year old Elle.

Her work experience with CPO began in 2004 as a mentor and phone volunteer and has since progressed to Assistant Director.

Lori is a former OSU Extension Educator in the fields of Youth and Human Environmental Sciences.
Kelly Jacobson

Kelly Jacobson has been married to Steven for 17 years and has seven children ranging in age from 1-16 years old. Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, Kelly was an assistant buyer for JC Penney Corp. in Dallas, TX.

Kelly began volunteering for CPO to support a pro-life ministry, but discovered a call from God to minister to women in crisis on a deeper level in 1997, when she and Steven adopted the first of their four youngest children.
"I believe God is using CPO to change the lives of women and children every single day. Sometimes I am in awe just to see what He will do next!"
Kris Panter

Kris has been married for 17 years, and she and her husband have 4 bio children, ranging in age from 5 to 12 years. Before they had their girls, Kris worked as a credit counselor for a credit bureau in Arkansas. She has also been a La Leche League Leader for 8 years. She and her husband have recently adopted a three-year-old little boy and a newborn baby boy! Kris says,
"I volunteer at CPO because it gives me great joy to help mothers when they feel like there are no options for them. God has equipped me with the love and strength to help these women get back on their feet, no matter what the situation. I believe that it is important for them to know that God loves them and will provide for them."
Stephanie Johnson

Stephanie and Bryan have been married for nine years. They have two boys, Tyler (4) and Brody (2), and a baby girl in Heaven. Prior to having children, Stephanie worked as a Registered Nurse at Hillcrest Hospital. Since having children, she has been blessed to be able to stay at home. She has been involved with CPO for five years and began serving as an Assistant in the last six months.
"The Lord led us to CPO in the beginning, as an adoptive family. Because of our experience in adopting our oldest son, I felt the Lord was leading me to become more involved so that I could help other adoptive families and birth moms. I love seeing how the Lord works through everyone involved in the adoption process. I am constantly reminded of what an awesome God we serve through the ministry of CPO."
Becky Martin

Becky married Phillip in 1990 and is the mother of Zach and Sarah, and recently-adopted Eli. She is a former kindergarten and first grade teacher, and is presently a co-owner of Performance Stage, Inc.
"I have been a part of CPO since 2004, when my niece, Zoe, was adopted. I was looking for a home mission to be involved in, and saw the blessing that CPO was to all of the women and couples who came for help. I just knew this is where I wanted to volunteer.

I was a single parent for 4 1/2 years, so I had real-life experience with the feelings that the women face in a crisis pregnancy. I first became a mentor. In 2007, Cheryl called to ask if I would be willing to be an assistant, and I was thrilled. There are many ups and downs in this ministry, but I know I'm doing God's will for my life and that He works everything out for the good for those who love Him."
Nancy Karrer

Like several other testimonies, Nancy came to CPO as an adoptive family. Nancy is married to Mike and is mommy to precious girls, Rosie and Ruthie. Prior to becoming a mommy, Nancy spent her time in corporate America working in the staffing/recruiting industry.
"My friend Stephanie Johnson encouraged me to come to a CPO meeting. After that I was hooked! I completely fell in love with this ministry and I knew I wanted to jump in as soon as I could. I began by mentoring and giving girls rides. Later, Cheryl asked me to become an assistant and I was thrilled! My prayer is that I might be a vessel for Christ as I minister to the women and families that come to CPO for HIS glory!"
Krysta James

Krysta has been married to Mitch for 8 years. They are adoptive parents to Kaden, age 2. Before becoming a stay-at-home Mom, Krysta worked as an administrative assistant for 13 years in various corporations. She has been a volunteer for CPO for over 2 years.
"Open adoption is amazing and it's beautiful to watch. I enjoy showing love to birth mothers when they feel lost and hopeless. I take great pleasure in witnessing an adoptive couple become parents for the first time after struggling to achieve pregnancy. I enjoy seeing an adoptive family love their birth mother like they are part of their family. I am so honored to be a part of this ministry!"
Courtney Berg

Courtney and Jeff have been married since 2003. They have two biological children, Jackson and Creighton. A few years after the birth of their daughter, they felt led by the Lord to adopt. Through many different ways, the Lord directed their path to CPO and very shortly after that, they brought home sweet baby Charleigh in 2009. Jeff and Courtney have been in full-time ministry with teens since before they met, and continue to do so today.
"A part of the adoption process was to begin volunteering for CPO. Even after my required hours were finished, I just couldn't stay away. I fell in love with the women, the ministry, the process, and the open side of adoption I never knew existed. When our family was called out of Bartlesville, to Bixby, I was thrilled with the opportunity to serve more. Shortly after we moved here, I was asked to be an assistant and couldn't have been more excited to jump in head first to this amazing ministry. Since June, I've witnessed nearly every facet of what goes on, both the beautiful and painful sides, and I'm thrilled that the Lord has allowed me to be a part of it all!"
