Are You Pregnant?
Mentors
Grace Girls is a program that matches Birth Mothers with women who volunteer with Crisis Pregnancy Outreach to build positive relationships.
It was created to help birth mothers who are experiencing a crisis pregnancy to lead a more fulfilling and productive life spiritually, emotionally, and practically.
Helping girls by…
- Providing friendship and encouragement
- Being a listening heart and a Godly example
- Sharing life together and answering & asking questions
- Helping women gain new skills, behaviors, and attitudes
- Aiding the process of discovering God's best and His direction.
Basic Ideas
Spend time with each other. Call several times a week. Get together at least once a week, whenever possible.
Examples:
- Have dinner together or join in other family fun (night at the movies, game night at home, picnic at the park, or just hanging out).
- Attend Tuesday night Birthmothers meetings together.
- Run errands or do shopping together.
- Attend church or appropriate small group meetings and/or Bible studies together.
If desired, have a one-on-one Bible study together.
Learn about each other. Find out common interests. Share your dreams with each other. Discover ways to work toward enjoying or accomplishing some of them, including:
- Scrapbooking
- Music lessons
- Outdoor activities.
Discuss life skills and educational goals and find ways to develop.
- Menu planning and shopping
- Work on a household budget
- Cleaning and organizing
- Parenting & child education
- Productive work skills, ethics, and habits
- Computer knowledge and skills.
Be creative! As you spend time together and learn about each other, more ideas will surface. You will discover other practical ways you can enhance and encourage one another.
Boundaries
- It is not intended that there be any financial expectations in this relationship. All money that exchanges hands must come through official CPO channels.
- Just as with any effective relationship, confidentiality is expected. All information shared one-on-one or in group meetings is not to be shared. The only exception will be when the personal safety of a woman or her children is at stake.
- Every effort should be made to avoid the woman involved being alone with male family members.
